File has an alpha channel transparency. The background is transparent. TO PRESERVE TRANSPARENCY Right click on the download link and click SAVE LINK AS in Firefox or SAVE TARGET AS in IE. I've experimented with this all morning and this is the only way to get the png format and save the tranparency.
